How CUP is governed.

Board of Directors

The CUP board meets quarterly and is responsible for setting the organization’s strategic direction, approving the annual budget, overseeing the executive director, and ensuring fidelity to the mission. Board members serve three-year terms.

Conflict of interest

All board members, officers, and key staff sign an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure. Where a potential conflict arises, the affected party recuses themselves from related discussions and votes. Conflict-of-interest documentation is maintained by the secretary.

Financial oversight

The treasurer reviews monthly financial statements and reports to the full board quarterly. CUP files an annual IRS Form 990 and maintains current registration with the State of Florida (Reg. #CH67895). Form 990 filings are available upon request and through public charity databases.

Whistleblower & document retention

CUP maintains whistleblower and document retention policies in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley provisions applicable to nonprofits. Complaints regarding financial impropriety, harassment, or governance concerns may be submitted directly to the board chair without fear of retaliation.

Tax-exempt status

Coffee Uniting People, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Florida Registration #CH67895.
